Daisy Lane Bakery French Toast
RECIPE
Servings 8 pieces| Prep Time 15 minutes| Total Time 1/2 hour
INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup whole milk
1/8 cup + 1 T whipping cream
2 eggs
1 T sugar
1/16-1/8 tsp cinnamon
1 t. pure vanilla extract (OPTIONAL: add 1/4 tsp. almond flavoring, if you like that too)
1/4 tsp salt
8 slices Hard Dough Bread (see Daisy Lane Bakery Hard Dough Bread recipe: https://www.daisylanebakery.com/home/daisy-lane-bakery-hard-dough-bread )
1/2 stick salted butter
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl, combine all of the ingredients and mix thoroughly with a fork or whisk.
Heat a non-stick pan over medium high heat (approximately 300-350 degrees), starting with 1-2 T of butter until bubbly.
Use fresh or defrosted slices of bread, dipping each piece in the batter for 30 seconds on each side, flipping each piece over until lightly moistened.
Place soaked bread pieces onto the hot pan; cook each side 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
Serve with additional butter and maple syrup.
Slices can be frozen and easily defrosted in the microwave at any time.
